Custom Translation Glossary

The Custom Translation Glossary helps you keep key terms like company names, product names, and industry phrases consistent across languages. Whenever users apply inline translations to content with predefined words or phrases, the terms will appear exactly as you’ve defined them, ensuring clear and accurate communication.

Follow the steps below to define glossary terms.

1. Go to the “Translations” space in Dashboard to download the glossary template.

The template includes columns with language codes to define translations. By default, it contains 10 columns with headers for the following languages:

• en (English)
• de (German)
• fr (French)
• es (Spanish)
• it (Italian)
• sv (Swedish)
• pt (Portuguese)
• vi (Vietnamese)
• pl (Polish)

If you need to add translations for other languages, you can insert additional columns using the respective code for a given language (see the list of languages below*).

2. Fill out the CSV template
   1. Open the template in any text editor or spreadsheet application (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets).
   2. In the column for your base language, enter the phrases to be translated, one below the other. If your base language isn’t listed, add a new column and specify the appropriate language code in the column heading  (e.g., cs for Czech).
   3. Provide translations for each target language in the corresponding columns. Please note that not all columns (languages) need to be filled out. You can leave columns blank if a translation for that language is not required.
   4. Save the file in CSV format to ensure it uploads correctly.

3. Upload your completed glossary:
   Once your CSV is filled out, upload it using the drag-and-drop area or file browsing option.

Helpful Tips:

• Make sure your CSV follows the exact column structure of the template for a smooth upload.
• Check for duplicate terms to avoid conflicts.
• If an error occurs during upload, review the error message for guidance (e.g., formatting issues).
  
  

4. You can download and re-upload the file anytime!

Additional information

• Only global admins can manage glossaries.
• You can define translations for multiple languages. See the full list below*.
• There’s no limit to the number of phrases you can include in the CSV file.
• The glossary is designed for translating individual words and short phrases. Longer phrases or full sentences may lead to translation errors or inconsistencies.
