Stream Management

Global Admins can change the order of streams by clicking on the arrow to the left of a stream name and dragging it to your preferred position.

You can adjust the settings for each stream individually. Depending on the content that will be shared, a different setup may be required. Global Admin and Location admins can do this or they can assign a Stream Admin who does not need to have full admin privileges, but who can help manage the settings for that particular stream.

To access an individual stream’s settings:

• Login to Beekeeper on a desktop computer
• Click on the speedometer icon in the top right corner
• Click the “Streams” subtab to the left
• Click on the desired stream from the list
• Note the tabs across the top of the individual stream settings

Let’s take a look at each of those tabs now.

General

General Settings

Here, you can change the name of your stream, the description, and cover image. Make sure all three are aligned with the type of content you want users to share in this stream.

Stream Cover Image

To make sure your Stream Cover Image looks great on every device, the image should be be 750x400 px. On some devices, some cropping will occur, so make sure the most important part of the image is in "safe zone" - that is 750x204 px. The "safe zone" is what's displayed in the web app.

 Allowed file types: .jpeg / .png, max. size: 10MB.

Best Practices:

• Always use images without very high contrasts and smooth color schemes
• Avoid having text in the image as this will interfere with your stream title and description
• Make sure the important content is vertically centered so that no important parts are cropped out

Default Comment Permission

By default, users will have the option to comment on a post within a stream. However, some types of communication don't need to be commented on. You can therefore disable the commenting option if you like.

We strongly advise organizations to allow commenting as this gives employees the possibility to provide feedback or express feelings on certain topics. Giving employees a voice boosts engagement through the app.

Default Stream Subscription Settings

By default, users will not automatically be subscribed to notifications on a stream. However, you can adjust this within the stream settings so that they will receive notifications unless they decide to disable them in their own notification preferences.

Highlighted Labels

Labels are the filtering functionality in Beekeeper. They allow users to categorize the types of information they are posting and then easily go back and search for all posted information tagged with a particular label. Encourage users to use certain labels by highlighting them at the top of the stream. To learn more about labels click here.

 Don't forget to hit "Save" when you're done with your settings!

Permissions

Location Permissions

If your company uses locations in the app, it is a perfect way to use location permissions for streams that have a local character. This way you can easily assign the users from the location to the respective stream in bulk.

Group Permissions

Access to streams can be restricted to a particular group. If you have assigned users to groups based on their team, department, or according to a particular project, it is very easy to allow permissions to the corresponding stream for that group. Simply add the group, or multiple groups, from the drop-down menu and select “Add Group.”

Individual Permissions

If you’d like to give a few selected users access to a stream that does not necessarily correlate with a particular group, you can add them through the Individual Permissions section of the Permissions stream settings. Simply begin typing in the individual’s name, click on the respective name and then on “Add User.”

Slideshows

You can broadcast posts from a particular stream on a TV in a common area to place Beekeeper in front of your employees. This section is where you can access the URL for display and adjust certain settings such as the time frame within which you would like to display the latest posts, as well as if you’d like to broadcast only posts with a certain label. Integrations

If you post content to Facebook or a blog and would like to display that information in Beekeeper without duplicating your efforts, you can easily import social media posts to Beekeeper in short intervals. Enter the URL of your RSS feed or the page id of your Facebook page to push content from your social media platforms into the selected stream in Beekeeper automatically. Analytics

Click here to go to the Analytics section for the selected stream. Check out the metrics for your streams on a regular basis to gain insight on how engaging each stream is for your users. This will help you determine how to adjust the information you post to improve it even more.
