Whole conversations cannot be deleted, they can only be archived. However, you can delete individual chat messages.
By default, users can delete only their own messages on web or mobile.
However, organizations can now allow Chat Admins to delete messages sent by other users in group chats.
This additional permission is controlled by the organization and is disabled by default.
To enable it, a Global Admin must go to:
Dashboard → Settings → Feature Flags → “Allow group chat admins to delete other users' messages.”
👉 Even when this feature is disabled, Chat Admins will still see the “Delete message” option.
If they try to use it, they will see the following message:
“Message deletion is currently disabled. This feature is controlled by your organization and can only be enabled by a Global Admin in the Dashboard.”
This is intentional — it improves visibility and discoverability of the feature, so Admins can act quickly in case of sensitive or urgent situations.
💡Note: The ability for Chat Admins to delete other users’ messages is currently available only on web.
After a message is deleted, it is gone from within the app, but all participants will see the system message: “Message Deleted.”
If a special request is filed by the customer, Beekeeper can manually recover that message within 30 days. After that period, the message is irreversibly lost.
Requests must be submitted by Global Admins. Please note that this service involves a handling fee.
To organize your inbox and create greater visibility of important chat messages, use the Archiving Chats function.
