Open Tasks

Global admins, location admins and group admins can now create open tasks in the app. These are tasks that are open for group members to pick up!

Open tasks are tasks which are not directly assigned to a specific person, but are rather targeting a team and are available or ‘open’ for any member of that team to pick up and assign to themselves.

All members of the group will 1) receive a push notification for the new open task and 2) be able to view and/or pick up the task, which will assign it to them and remove it from the open task list.

So how does it work?  With this new feature, admins can create tasks that target an entire group in the app. Members of this group will then see this task in a new tab ‘Open Tasks’. They will be able to pick up and assign the task to themselves, which will then remove the open task from other team members’ open task view.

Creating open tasks is limited to creating an open task for one group only. We plan to extend its functionality to be able to target multiple groups in the future.

Open tasks are important for our customers. In many cases, a team lead or a manager does not necessarily have a specific person in mind for a task, so this feature will help them more easily orchestrate work. These tasks are not always completed by the same person, but rather can be done by anyone working that day. With open tasks, the team lead or manager can easily create a task and assign it to a certain group. Then, anyone who is a member of this group will see it and other tasks for the day and be able to pick them up and complete them. The manager will still keep an overview of the task and whether it is open or already done, and by whom.
