The Beekeeper platform is optimized for languages written horizontally left to right, such as the ones using the Latin alphabet. However, there are no restrictions on the language or type of alphabet that you can use to write posts and messages in Beekeeper; we are UTF-8 compliant (except for a few fields such as usernames and passwords where we only accept alphanumeric and underlines). We have users typing in Latin languages, Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Mandarin and more.

On mobile
On the mobile app the determination of the language is dependent on the operating system.
Apple iPhone - iOS
On iOS the app will render in the first supported language out of the preferred languages as specified in Settings/General/Language & Region on the mobile phone, if no preferred language is supported it will default to English.
Android
On Android it will use the preferred language if supported and otherwise default to English. Users can change the user interface language in Beekeeper by changing the preferred languages in the operating system settings on their mobile phone to one of the languages listed above.
On the web app
On the web app the language can also be set/changed by each user as follows:
- Login to Beekeeper on a desktop computer
- Click on your profile icon in the top right corner
- Click “Settings”, then “Account”
- Select a language from the drop down
- “Save Changes”
Global Admins have the ability to configure the language on the Web App and can also set individual user languages as part of the user import.
Inline Translations
If the team using Beekeeper is diverse and several languages are spoken, then Inline Translations are a valuable feature in your platform. The Inline Translations use Google Cloud Translation to provide the option for users to request an approximate translation of all posts and comments in a stream whenever the user’s device language is different from the language being used in a post or a comment.
