We understand the importance of keeping your account secure, which is why we've implemented a robust email verification process for all admins on our free accounts. This process is designed to ensure that only authorized users can gain admin privileges, thereby protecting your account from unauthorized access.
Why Email Verification Matters
Email verification is a crucial step in securing your Beekeeper account. It helps to:
- Confirm the identity of the person signing up or being promoted to an admin role.
- Prevent unauthorized access by ensuring that only verified users can assume administrative responsibilities.
- Enhance the overall security of your organization's communications on our platform.
The Verification Process
Our email verification process is straightforward, yet effective, involving the following steps:
- Signing Up: When a new user signs up and is designated as a global admin, they are prompted to verify their email address as part of the signup process. This initial verification ensures that the account is being created by someone with access to the email associated with the admin role.
- Inviting New Admins: If a user is invited to become a global admin, they must verify their email during the signup process. This step is crucial for adding an additional layer of security, confirming the new admin's identity and authority to access sensitive account settings.
- Promoting Existing Users: When an existing user is promoted to become a global admin, we require that an email address be added to their account (if not already done). The system then triggers a verification process. Upon their next sign-in, the user will encounter a verification dialogue. This prompt is designed to ensure that the user's email is validated before granting them admin privileges.
- Opting Out: Users who are prompted for verification upon being promoted to admin rights have the option to forfeit these rights if they choose not to verify their email. This means they can continue to access their account without verification but will retain only normal member rights. This option ensures that users have control over their level of engagement and access within the platform, aligning with our commitment to user autonomy and security.
