Referencing user profile fields

This guide explains how to use the “Retrieve user profile data” to obtain user's standard fields and  user custom fields.

"Retrieve user profile data" action

Using this step you will be able to get more information from the selected user’s profile such as: first and last name, role, user email, user name, # of comments, # of likes, # of posts, last activity date, profile creation date…etc. You can reference these fields in the further steps of the workflow, for example, to create a dynamic file name or address the chat message or email.

This action can also be used to retrieve custom fields created in the Dashboard (Dashboard -> Settings -> Profile Fields).

How to use this field?

User - select the person whose profile data you want to retrieve.

• Use Magic Variables to retrieve the data of the user from the trigger (i.e. form submitter, the user who logged in, user added/removed from the group).
• You can also retrieve the profile data of a specific user, in this case type the first name of the user and select from the list.
