This lesson will explain the key factors that will make Beekeeper a success in your organization.
Our Customer Success team has supported a huge number of rollouts, and we’ve learned along the way what some of the key success factors are.
We’ll go through each one in more detail, but they are:
- Leadership involvement
- Personalized and interactive rollout (Face-to-Face)
- Interactive and engaging content in the app
Leadership Involvement
The implementation is much more likely to be successful if all leaders and managers are fully on board and act as role models for the use of the app.
Employees look up to their leaders and managers, so seeing them active on the platform is a key motivator for employees to keep the activity high.
To the extent that it is possible; we always recommend a Face-to-Face rollout, during which team leads provide each member of their team with a personalized invite including a QR code.
This gives the team lead the opportunity to reinforce the positioning of the app, help every member in their team to log on and answer any questions they might have.
A Face-to-Face rollout helps employees understand the benefits and ensures they are actively involved from the start.

Interactive & Engaging Content
Users will only keep coming back to the app if they find content there that is fresh, relevant and helpful to them in their work.
Make sure, especially in the early stages of the implementation, that you have a good size group of champions who help fill your app with interactive and engaging content.
Some top tips:
- Images of users get the most likes
- Use polls to engage users
- Tag people using “@first name…”
- Encourage 2-way communication
How to Measure Success
Two good measures of success are Activation and Stickiness.
- Activation: the percentage of created users who have logged in at least once
- Stickiness: the percentage of your monthly active users who were also active in the last 24 hours
Good targets to aim for 6 months after rollout are:
- 80% activation
- 60% stickiness
Maximize Impact
It’s crucial for success to start with a Champions Phase - this is when you invite your most enthusiastic and tech savvy users to the app and enlist their support in filling the app with lots of engaging content.
For organizations with more than 2,000 employees we recommend rolling out to the rest of the organization in several waves.
Think about the best way to segment your organization for a phased rollout: by geography/location, by function, by role etc.
The next lesson will be ‘Planning the Communication’. See you there!
